Bylaws

ARTICLE I
  Duties of Officers
    Section 1
      The President shall preside at all meetings and be exofficio member of all committees. The Vice-President shall act in his absence.
    Section 2
      The Secretary shall keep a written record of all transactions and report the minutes of all meetings.
    Section 3
      The Treasurer shall receive and disburse all monies.
ARTICLE II
  Election of Officers
    All officers shall be elected by a majority vote at the annual meeting.
ARTICLE III
  Application for Membership
    Section 1
      Application for membership shall be made to the Secretary on the form furnished by him and shall state applicant's name, address, phone number, age, occupation and date of application. Each applicant shall be recommended by any member of the Club in good standing, who personally knows and vouches for the character of the applicant.
    Section 2
      In case an application is rejected the dues shall be returned.
ARTICLE IV
  General Laws and Regulations
    Section 1
      This club is formed for the mutual benefit of its members, and each member shall exert every effort to make it a success by obtaining new members; to bend every effort towards the advancement of the organization and numismatics.
    Section 2
      The By-Laws may be amended in exactly the same manner in which the Constitution may be amended, and the same procedure must be followed.
    Section 3
      No member shall incur any expense in the name of the Club, unless authorized by the membership, except the President and the Secretary, who may incur any necessary expense for postage or printing for their offices and for any necessary supplies or stationary.
    Section 4
      All officers at the expiration of their term of office shall deliver to their successors all books, papers, monies or other property of the Club in their possession.
    Section 5
      No equipment, supplies, or funds of the Omaha Coin club shall be sold, mortgaged, or otherwise disposed of, except for the payment of regular bills, unless all members are notified by mail of such plans for the sale or disposal at least fifteen (15) days before the meting when such sale or disposal is to be discussed. Sale or mortgage is to be approved by three-fourths of the membership. If members are not able to attend the meeting, they may ballot by mail.
    Section 6
      Any committee appointed by the President shall consist of at least two persons, one of which shall be designated Chairman. The Chairman of any active standing committee shall be required to submit a written report of that committee's activities tot he membership at each meeting. Such committee reports shall be read at the regular meeting at which they are submitted and upon reading will become a part of the minutes of that meeting. In the event that a committee has nothing to report, an oral report will suffice, which the Secretary will duly record in the minutes.
ARTICLE V
  Conduct of Club Shows
    Section 1
      The Bourse Chairman shall be responsible for organizing and conducting the Annual Club Show in conjunction with and under the supervision of the Omaha Coin Club.
    Section 2
      The Bourse Chairman shall be assisted by a Bourse Committee, which shall consist of at least two persons selected either by the Bourse Chairman or appointed by the Club President, who will be members in good standing of the Omaha Coin club.
    Section 3
      The Bourse Chairman will be Chairman of the Bourse committee and as such will render a monthly report as required under Section 6, Article IV of the By-Laws.
    Section 4
      The Bourse Chairman, upon completion of his duties or within 30 days of conclusion of the Annual Show will submit a final report concerning the show. The report will include but not be limited to the following information; the date and location of the show, the total number of tables and or half tables sold, a list of the names and addresses of each dealer that purchased a table or half table, a floor diagram indicating the location of each dealers assigned table within the Bourse area, the table fee, general attitude of dealers toward the show, the members of the Bourse committee and any other special activity or event occurring in conjunction with the show.
    Section 5
      The Treasurer will provide an itemized report exhibiting income received for table fees or any other event or item at the show for which revenue was received and an itemized listing of expenses or disbursements required to conduct the show; such report will indicate or be a profit and loss statement to be used in evaluating annual show income and expenditures.
    Section 6
      The Exhibit Chairman will provide a written report within 30 days of conclusion of the annual show listing the name of each exhibitor, the class and type of material exhibited and the names of exhibitors receiving awards, indicating which awards were received, as well as providing a list of the judges names.
    Section 7
      The reports rendered in Sections 4, 5, and 6, after appropriate reading will be submitted to the Secretary who will then assemble them into an Annual Show Report Packet and place them into the club's records.
    Section 8
      That the president shall duly inform committee appointees of their responsibilities under this Article and any other pertinent Articles of the Constitution and By-Laws.

 

Constitution

ARTICLE I
  This organization shall be known as the Omaha Coin Club.
ARTICLE II
  Object
    The object and purpose of this organization shall be to encourage and promote study and interest in the science of Numismatics and cultivate friendly relations among collectors, students, and dealers; to maintain a library, conduct lectures and employ other means of education for students of Numismatics; to acquire by donation, purchase or otherwise, personal, real or mixed property, to mortgage, sell, lease or otherwise, use for carrying on the business of the organization, which shall be operated on a non-profit basis and solely for the educational and social benefit of its members.
ARTICLE III
  Membership
    Section 1
      Membership is open to any person of good character who is interested in numismatics.
    Section 2
      All applications for membership shall bear the endorsement of a member in good standing and shall be submitted to the elected officers of the Club, who shall serve as a membership committee. Upon majority recommendation of the elected officers, the Club members shall be notified of the application by mail or through the official publication of the Club.
    Section 3
      If no objection to admission to membership is received by the Secretary within 15 days following the notice of the application, the applicant shall be admitted to membership.
    Section 4
      If a timely objection is received by the Secretary, all available information shall be furnished to the Membership Committee, who may then either accept or reject the application. If the applications is rejected by the Membership Committee, a secret vote on the application may be requested by any member. An applicant receiving two-thirds vote shall be admitted to membership.
    Section 5
      Any member in good standing who has any reason to believe that another member is violating any object of the Club may bring charges for expulsion against the offending member. Such charges shall be presented in writing to the President, who shall appoint a committee of three to investigate. If a majority of the committee feels that the investigation confirms the charges brought, a full report in writing shall be presented to the Board of Directors. A two-thirds vote of the Directors present at a meeting called for such purpose shall be required to expel the member, expulsion shall take effect immediately.
    Section 6
      Any person who has rendered signal service to the science of Numismatics may be elected to Honorary Membership by unanimous vote at any regular meeting.
    Section 7
      A Charter Member or a person that has been an active member for 25 years, whether or not continuous, may be elected to a Life Membership upon nomination and receiving a three-fourths majority of the votes of members present at any regular club meeting. Regular membership dues shall not be assessed Life Members.
ARTICLE IV
  Officers
    Section 1
      The elected officers of the organization shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
    Section 2
      The Board of Directors shall consist of the elected officers and past presidents, of which the presiding President shall be the Chairman.
    Section 3
      The President shall preside at all meetings and in his absence the duty shall fall on the other officers in the order named above.
    Section 4
      In the event a vacancy occurs among the officers, one of the remaining officers shall request nominations to fill the vacancy and an election held on the first regular meeting after the vacancy occurs. The officer or officers so elected shall remain in office until the next regular election of officers.
ARTICLE V
  Initiation and Dues
    Section 1
      The revenue of the Club shall be derived from dues, assessments, contributions and any other sources consistent with the aims of the Club.
    Section 2
      Membership dues are to be fixed by a majority vote of the members present and voting at the regular meeting during the month of March of each year. The dues, so fixed, shall be payable the following May 1st and remain in effect twelve months.
    Section 3
      Members four months in arrears for dues shall be dropped from membership.
ARTICLE VI
  Amendments
    Section 1
      This Constitution and By-Laws may be altered or amended.
    Section 2
      Alterations or amendments to the Constitution or By-Laws shall be presented in writing and read at a regular meting but shall not be voted upon until the next regular meeting and then after notifying the membership by mail or through the official publication of the Club, that a vote ill be taken at the next regular meeting on the proposed alteration(s) or amendment(s). When voted upon, a two-thirds majority vote of members present and voting shall amend, providing that at least fifteen (15) or members in good standing are present and voting.
